Yesterday our little allotment society had a BBQ to get all of the new plot holders together for the first time. Pretty much everyone came along and we were very surprised to see so many people! It seems that since the start of the year, quite a few people have taken on new plots. It was great having a chance to chat to our fellow plot holders over a glass of wine and a burnt sausage and collectively dream of what the site will be like a few years from now, when of course we'll be eating our own fresh produce at future gatherings!
It was a great opportunity for us to let our site secretary Steve know of the 'allotment party' plan in September and almost to get the ok to let the allotment take a back seat for August. Following on from the last post, the allotment party as we are now calling it is set for the second weekend in September. It is a great feeling to have this concrete plan of man (and woman) power and machinery set for September to really give the plot a good going over.
Until then, we won't be spending much time at the allotment really.August will be devoted to the fitting of a new kitchen and any other DIY that can be fitted in, in anticipation of spending much more time at the plot once we've given it the groundforce treatment next month!

Fingers crossed the groundforce treatment goes well and the home-grown produce is abundant at future allotment barbecues! Good luck with it all...
Thanks Amy!
